2.1 AFD series gas ultrasonic flow meter (velocity type flow meter)

2.1.1Speed calculation method
The working principle of the CFD700S ultrasonic flowmeter is the time difference method. The basic working principle is that the time for sound waves to propagate from upstream to downstream in a fluid is less than the time for sound waves to propagate from downstream to upstream. There is a strict mathematical relationship between the difference between these two times and the speed of the airflow. Based on this data relationship, the following expression for gas flow rate can be obtained:

Cf -------------The velocity of sound waves propagating in fluids;

2.1.2Flow calculation method
Due to the fact that the fluid flow velocity of the sound channel is measured by multiple pairs of ultrasonic channels, the average flow velocity of the cross-section is the average flow velocity. Additionally, due to the shape of the cross-section and processing reasons of the circular flue, certain corrections are needed. So the volumetric flow rate is:

2.3 AFD800S Series Coke Oven Gas Ultrasonic Flowmeter
2.3.1Characteristics of coke oven gas:
The coke oven gas itself contains naphthalene, tar, saturated water vapor, and fine dust impurities. The naphthalene and tar in it will form crystals and adhere to the flow sensor body due to temperature changes, especially the Pitot tube, Wilbur, and orifice plate with differential pressure principle have a greater impact.
For differential pressure gas flow meters, the measurement accuracy is influenced by factors such as gas density, moisture, and dust.
The low flow rate of coke oven gas limits the use of gas flow meters based on differential pressure principles, such as Weiliba and V-cone flow meters, which use differential pressure working principles, and the lower measurement limit is affected to a certain extent.
Compared to the above problems, the time difference method gas ultrasonic flowmeter has better solved the above problems. Therefore, it is recommended to use a gas ultrasonic flow meter.
